About Mugwort Rapé (Hapé)

This strong blend draws on one of the oldest plant relationships in human history. Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) — named for Artemis, goddess of the moon — has walked with humans for millennia: burned in ancient Chinese moxibustion, carried across medieval Europe as a dream herb, and honoured independently by healers on opposite sides of the world. The Yawanawa tribe of Acre, Brazil, now bring it into ceremony alongside tobacco from tribal lands.

Traditionally called a "threshold plant" — an herb for crossing between states — Mugwort is especially valued for dreamwork, visionary ceremony, and protection during ritual practice. "A calming and gentle support for deeper meditative, prayer and dream working rituals," says one longtime user; another calls it "peaceful, uplifting, and beautiful." It carries a quality the best sacraments share: something hard to name, but easy to keep returning to.

Caution: Mugwort should not be used during pregnancy.

Storage & Freshness

It is not recommended to store rapé in the refrigerator as condensation may form inside the container upon removal.

What is Rapé (Hapé)?

Rapé (hapé) is a traditional Amazonian preparation crafted from finely ground plants, botanicals, and tree ash, used ceremonially by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin across many generations.

Blends vary widely — most fall into three broad categories: spiritualhealing, or fortifying — each reflecting the intentions of the tribe and maker. Traditional use is ceremonial, approached with clear intention and respect for the plants and the tradition.

Please approach this rapé with care and clear intention — best used in ceremony or with conscious purpose.
