Sourced directly from the Kuntanawa tribe of Brazil, this balanced sananga — made from fresh root shavings — sits in the middle of our three strengths, suited to steady, regular practice.

Sananga is applied as a single drop into each eye. There is a brief, intense sting — sharp for a minute or two — and then it clears, often leaving a striking sense of focus, calm and stillness — one customer described a lasting "uplifting and centeredness" through the rest of the day. In the Amazon it is worked with to clear panema, the heavy, stagnant energy that dulls a person; hunters traditionally used it to sharpen their perception before the hunt, and today it is most often reached for before meditation, prayer or ceremony.

Sananga is made from the root of the Tabernaemontana sananho shrub. Here the fresh root is shaved and steeped in water. Tribe and preparation both shape its strength — which is why our three sanangas, from three tribes, each feel distinct.
