About Catuaba Rapé (Hapé)

This light blend, crafted by the Katukina tribe of Acre, Brazil, combines tobacco from tribal lands with Tsunu ash (Platycyamus regnellii) and Catuaba (Erythroxylum vacciniifolium) — a celebrated Amazonian tree whose Tupi-Guarani name translates as mata que dá força: the forest that gives strength. The bark of the Catuaba has been worked with by the Tupi people of the northern Amazon since time immemorial, and is known across indigenous communities of Brazil as a plant of vitality and love — warming, tonic, and enlivening in character.

As a rapé, Catuaba is gentle and calming — purposeful in effect without being forceful. Practitioners describe it as a good evening blend, settling the mind and supporting a quiet, centred presence. In traditional practice it is associated with the rekindling of inner fire: a warmth that is both grounding and enlivening.

Storage & Freshness

It is not recommended to store rapé in the refrigerator as condensation may form inside the container upon removal.

What is Rapé (Hapé)?

Rapé (hapé) is a traditional Amazonian preparation crafted from finely ground plants, botanicals, and tree ash, used ceremonially by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin across many generations.

Blends vary widely — most fall into three broad categories: spiritualhealing, or fortifying — each reflecting the intentions of the tribe and maker. Traditional use is ceremonial, approached with clear intention and respect for the plants and the tradition.

Please approach this rapé with care and clear intention — best used in ceremony or with conscious purpose.
